Timor-Leste
In episode four of “Global” our hosts tell the story of Timor-Leste, the world’s second youngest country. An island nation very much off the beaten path, Timor-Leste successfully fought for their independence from Indonesia after a twenty-four-year conflict that claimed the lives of over 200,000 Timorese.
Since then, Timor-Leste’s 15 years of self-government have been filled with reconciliation, periodic outbreaks of violence and dynamic personalities that continue to shape the country.
Listen to the fourth episode of “Global” and find out the big story behind this small island.
