Where IRI Has Worked

Prior to the 2025 overhaul of US foreign assistance, IRI worked in more than 100 countries worldwide in nearly every continent. In Latin America, our work included closed society programs in Cuba and Venezuela, as well as democratic strengthening work in countries like Colombia and Honduras. In Africa, IRI had large programs in countries including Nigeria, Kenya, and Ethiopia. In Eurasia, IRI worked for decades to bolster democratic institutions in former Soviet states, including Moldova, Georgia, and Ukraine. In Asia, IRI worked in countries including Taiwan, Mongolia, and Burma. And in the Middle East and North Africa, IRI has had longstanding programs in states including Iraq, Tunisia, and Jordan.
